One week until Walsall’s largest ever jobs fair

Hundreds of jobs, apprenticeships and training opportunities will be up for grabs as Walsall Council prepares to hold their largest ever interactive jobs fair next week.

The Walsall Works and Black Country Impact teams in partnership with the view programme and DWP are organising the Jobs and Skills Expo, which will see over 60 local employers and training providers showcase their current vacancies.

The event which is open to all ages will take place at The Hub, Walsall College, Littleton Street, West Midlands, WS2 8ES on Wednesday 6 September between 9am – 12pm and 1pm – 4pm.

Some of the borough’s largest organisations will be in attendance including Walsall Football Club, NHS Walsall, Accord Housing Association, Homeserve, The Village Hotel, Nova Training, Walsall Council, whg Housing Association and the Territorial Army.

Walsall Football Club will promote their seasonal jobs for ushers, waitresses and bar staff whilst their club’s mascot Swifty will be on hand to keep visitors entertained throughout the day.

Nova Training, voted Training Provider of the Year 2017 by Apprenticeships 4 England, will showcase their training and apprenticeship opportunities in motor vehicles through their interactive car challenge for budding mechanics. It will be lights, camera action, as attendees will have the opportunity to dress up in props related to their chosen career and either leave a video message or have their picture taken in the Black Country Impact photo booth to help visualise themselves in their future career.

Young adults who have recently left school, college or university and undecided on their next steps can attend to get free advice, guidance and support from Black Country Impact Advisors. Those young people who did not get the examination results they were hoping for will also be able to seek assistance in deciding their next steps.

Calderdale College will sponsor a lunch time workshop session for training providers and employers. Skills Support for the Workforce, will advise businesses in attendance on how they can access free training to grow workforce skills to expand their businesses.
