Swedish Banking Group Handelsbanken has opened its first branch in Walsall town centre.
The Stockholm-headquartered company is rapidly expanding its UK operations and now has more than 206 branches nationwide. The Bank now has 42 Branches in its Central Region, with several Branches already well established locally in Wolverhampton, Tamworth, 2 in Birmingham City Centre, Edgbaston and more recently Stourbridge.
The bank's Walsall premises will be on the ground floor of the new, multi-million pound Jhoots Pharmacy headquarters in the heart of the town's Gigaport development. Work on the £3.3m, 20,000 sq ft building is due to be completed in January next year.
Founded in Sweden 143 years ago, Handelsbanken began trading in the UK in 1982 and now operates in 25 countries. employing around 11,500 people.
Led by Stephen Breen, its Walsall branch comprises a highly experienced banking team. With over 100 years of experience, they look forward to providing local businesses, individuals and the professional community with traditional, locally empowered relationship banking, with a real emphasis on providing outstanding customer service with quick decision-making abilities.

Situated adjacent to Walsall housing group’s HQ and the Walsall College complex, Jhoots' new HQ will add a significant new asset to Walsall’s business community.
