An international initiative bringing people together through football called ‘Football for Peace’ is take place on Saturday 14 November 2015, 11am – 3pm at the University of Wolverhampton off Delves Road.
Walsall’s Football for Peace tournament involving three tournaments targeted at different age groups the programme brings together groups of young people from across the borough of Walsall.
Promoting mutual understanding and a commitment to peaceful coexistence the event has been organised by young people and local voluntary and faith groups.
Support and backing for the event is being provided by national and regional organisations like Football for Peace Global; Walsall Football Club Community Programme; Walsall Council; Walsall College; University of Wolverhampton; Black Country Near Neighbours; Aqsa United Football Club; British Muslim Youth Group and Innovate Walsall.
On the day there will be three competitions running alongside each other. There is an Under-10 tournament for younger players and 7-a-side matches for the 11 – 16 age range too and for the seasoned footballers there will be an open age category.
