Walsall's premier park will host a free community event to celebrate World Mental Health Day - with sensible eating tips, sports taster sessions and massages on offer for visitors.
Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust has organised the Healthy Body Healthy Mind event at Walsall Arboretum on Saturday 5 October.
It aims to promote the importance of people of all ages looking after their physical and mental health, and will offer free health checks, quizzes, games, tips on healthy eating, massages, sports taster sessions and lots more.
Councillor Barbara McCracken, portfolio holder for social care with Walsall Council Coalition, said: "Every year, it is estimated that one in four of us will experience some form of mental illness and it is important to raise awareness, break down barriers and reduce the stigma that can still be associated with this.
"The community day is being held in a beautiful setting and I hope people get a lot out of it."
Trust Chairman Glyn Shaw added: “Everyone is welcome to come along to our Healthy Body, Healthy Mind event on 5th October, where you will get the chance to try out new activities, have a free health check, enjoy a massage and get help and advice on how you can look after your mental health. We look forward to seeing you there.”
The event will take place from 12-4pm near the bandstand at the Walsall Arboretum. There will also be the chance to win lots of prizes, including a family day out and tickets to Walsall Football Club.
