What is the ERDF Black Country Relocation Grant?

The ERDF Black Country Relocation Grant is a financial grant to encourage business to relocate to the Black Country provided by Black Country Investment funded by European Regional Development Fund.

Am I eligible?

If you answer ‘Yes’ to all of the criteria below then you may be eligible for this grant:

You have relocated within or moved into the Black Country since April 2003 or started a business since that date and….

  1. Your activities are well managed and exhibit one or more of the following features: innovation, environmental sustainability and or equality of opportunity.
  2. Your company is a SME (Small or Medium Enterprise) employing fewer than 250 employees and is free of its capital and voting rights being owned by another non SME business (or jointly by several businesses).
  3. You have an annual turnover of no more than € 40m or a balance sheet total of no more than €27m and no more than 25% owned by one or more companies not falling within the definition.
  4. The project must add to the UK’s economic activity.
  5. Your activities diversify those of the Black Country enterprise base.
  6. Expenditure has been made since 1 April 2003 on the purchase of plant and machinery, office equipment, the alteration of premises to suit your needs and certain fees such as legal and relocation costs.
  7. Expenditure exceeds £5000 and meets the rules.

You will not be eligible for this grant if you do not meet with the criteria above or are in a sector with intense competition such as retail, vehicle repairs, metal stock holding and metal forming. Also excluded are working capital items, reclaimable VAT and notional expenditure.
