Help for people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour

The behaviour support service works with individuals who have a learning disability plus additional problems, these may include challenging behaviour.

Members of the behaviour support service work alongside those already involved and provide specialist assessments, interventions and advice.

The kind of help we might offer includes:

  • One to one work with the person for skills building, relaxation, assertiveness or self help
  • Group work
  • Guidance for carers on how to manage challenging behaviour
  • Guidance for teams on how to manage challenging behaviour

If you as a family member, friend, carer or professional have any concerns about someone's behaviour, you should inform a social worker or nurse at one of the community learning disability teams.  View the Learning disabilities contacts page.
