Awards and accolades
Palfrey Park and the five year Restoration and Regeneration Programme has gained both local and national publicity and recognition.
In 2003 the work of Walsall Council Greenspace Services and the Palfrey Park Friends and Users Association were rewarded by receiving national recognition as joint winner of ILAM Open Space Management Award – an award recognising the use of innovative management techniques to develop parks in partnership with the local community
Palfrey Park achieved Green Flag Award status in July 2007. The first park in Walsall to be accredited with the Award and the park now joins an elite list of 554 green spaces nationally in 2007 to achieve the award.
The Green Flag Award is the national quality standard for parks and greenspaces in England and the achievement of the award recognises the hard work committed by Walsall Council Greenspace Services and our community partners over the past 5 years in restoring and regenerating the park as well as the delivery of the Palfrey Park 10 year Management and Maintenance Plan.
The park is assessed annually by the Green Flag Award Judges
