Fishing

The council has a number of sites available throughout the borough for anglers. Details of sites, facilities and fees are given below:

Angling is not allowed at the following sites

  • Clayhanger Lagoon, Clayhanger recreation ground, Brownhills
  • Moorcroft Wood Local Nature Reserve, off Bull Lane, Moxley
  • Park Lime Pits, off Park Road, Rushall, Walsall (small pool)
  • Stubbers Green Road, Aldridge (Swan and Swag pools)

Conditions of use for angling

  1. Fishing can only take place from the banks of the pool with a road and line.
  2. No night fishing is allowed.
  3. Do not take away or allow anyone to take away any fish caught from the pool.
  4. Do not use keep nets (except in official competitions)
  5. All litter, damaged fishing tackle, broken lines, unused bait etc must be taken away with you when you leave.
  6. Do not light any fires.
  7. The use of lead weights is not allowed.
  8. Do not interfere with local wildlife.
  9. Show consideration to other users of the pool and local residents.

Fishing licences

Rod licences are issued by the Environment Agency, they can be obtained from most Post Offices. If you require any information or would like to apply on-line for a licence, please visit the Environment Agency website (external link).
