wi fi access at your library

Wi Fi Access is available free of charge at Walsall Central Library.

To access the Internet using your laptop at the library you must be a member of Walsall Libraries and use your Walsall Libraries ID number and PIN to connect to the service.

How to log on to wi fi

First connect to the wireless network “Walsall Libraries” on your laptop.

This box should appear when you open IOnternet Explorer and enter any URL.

Enter your library ID number and PIN in the required boxes.

You must tick to accept the Terms and Conditions.

You will then be able to connect to the Internet through wifi for as long as you want.

There is a download limit of 512Mb per day.

The system will log you out after 5 minutes inactivity if you do not use the connection.  You can leave Internet Explorer for less than 5 minutes without having to log on again.

You can connect to wifi at any time while the library is open.

Where to use the Wifi service

At present only Walsall Central Library offers this service throughout the building.  There may also be coverage outside the building.

A limited number of clearly marked mains power points are available in the Reference Library  for laptop connection.  Please do not use any other power sockets for your laptop connection due to safety concerns.  Do not allow your cables to trail across the floor as this causes a hazard.

If you have trouble logging on with your library ID or PIN please ask a member of library staff.

We are unable to offer technical help with your laptop and connection to the wireless network.  No extra software will be installed on your laptop.

Filtering

The Internet connection is filtered using the standard library filtering and the sites you visit will be logged and checked by library staff if there appears to be any misuse.  If sites are blocked you will see this message.

Please let the library staff know of any problems or comments so that we can improve the operation of the service.
