Walsall Museum

Exciting events are also taking place in Walsall Museum. On Thursday 1 May at 2pm, Sheila Shreeve, the Museum's Honorary Costume Curator, will be giving a talk on 'Dress and the Elizabethans'.

This is the first in a series of talks by Sheila entitled 'Clothing the Past', exploring the history of costume and dress from the time of Elizabeth I right up to the present day.  The first talk will explore how people dressed during the later Tudor period, from 1550-1600 and will take place from 2pm - 3pm. The series continues on the first Thursday in each month and are free of charge.

The talk is one of many events taking place in Walsall Museums over the coming year  as part of the National Year of Reading. The talk fits in to May's theme, 'Mind and Body' as visitors learn more about costume and clothes. The lending and reference library have a variety of books available about the history of costume and fashion so anyone inspired by the talk can read more about it.

Examples of Tudor underwear can also be seen in the Museum's 'Knickers!' exhibition which is on display until Saturday 7 June. For further information, contact 01922 653116
