Community involvement

Walsall Council Greenspace Services vision is to ‘involve as many people as possible in the management and maintenance of its parks and open spaces’.

There are many ways that local people and park users can become involved in the management and maintenance of Palfrey Park ranging from practical community activities, health walks, consultation days, community events to attendance at local meetings.

Palfrey Park has a well established Friends and Users Association - The Palfrey Park Friends and Users Association.

The group were formed in 1996 and consist of local residents and park users who have varying backgrounds or interests in the park ranging from the maintenance of the conservation area to being a good neighbour of the park.

The group work in partnership with Walsall Council and local community organisations and have been the real catalyst in representing the views of the local community and ensuring that there is a platform for local people to influence the management, maintenance and improvement of the park.

The group hold monthly public meetings on the first Tuesday of each month and welcome new people who may wish to join the group or come along to their meetings.

Dates and venues for forthcoming meetings are displayed in the parks two notice boards located just inside the Dale Street and Broadway West Entrances, for further information on how you can become involved in the park or the Friends Group please call the parks hotline number on 01922 654370 or email parksmanagers@walsall.gov.uk.
