Credit crunch blues will disappear in a barrel of laughs when Walsall Council stages its annual pantomime later this month.

Aladdin is being performed at the Forest Arts Centre in Leamore and the professional Midland actors staging the seasonal romp promise “an interesting take on the Genie!”

The pantomime, now in its eighth year, has been moved from Bloxwich Library Theatre which is undergoing a refurbishment.

Shows will be performed between Saturday 13 December 2008 and Sunday 21 December 2008 although tickets have already sold out for the 1.30pm shows on Monday 15 December 2008 and Wednesday 17 December 2008.

Councillor Louise Harrison, Walsall Council cabinet member for leisure, said: “There’s nothing quite like the slapstick humour of a pantomime to create that feelgood factor.

“People should forget about the credit crunch for a while and settle back for a great of laughs.

“This is the eighth pantomime that Walsall Council has staged and it is one of the most popular events we put on.”

Tickets for the show cost £5.50 and a range of morning, afternoon and evening performances are available from the box office on 0845 111 2900 or from The New Art Gallery or Central Library during opening hours.
