Public Consultation - A34 Birmingham Road Park and Ride
Date Published : 17 November 2008
As part of the Bus Showcase scheme on the Route 51, there is a proposal to introduce a new 300-space park and ride facility at the Aston University Sports Grounds, just off Birmingham Road on the A34.
Walsall Council is planning to hold a series of public consultation events where local residents will have the opportunity to view the proposals, make comments, offer further suggestions and also express any concerns.
The aims of this project are:
- To reduce congestion along the A34;
- To reduce car trips into the centre of Walsall;
- To increase the number of people using public transport services;
- To provide an alternative mode of transport for journeys ending in Walsall, Birmingham and Sandwell;
- To provide a viable alternative for commuters who currently park all day in residential streets.
The proposals are being developed to ensure that we retain all the existing mature oak trees. In addition to this the proposed design will include sustainable drainage and sensitive landscaping in keeping with the existing surroundings. Furthermore we are examining types of surfaces so as to provide a facility that minimises visual intrusion.
We welcome the opportunity to discuss all aspects of the project with local people, the dates and locations for the public consultations are:

The New Art Gallery Walsall, Gallery Square, Walsall, WS2 8LG
