Carlo Curley

Famous organist Carlo Curley is making his first ever visit to Walsall Town Hall this Wednesday, 11 October.

Carlo is one of the world’s more foremost concert organists and has performed all over the world in the White House and on a recent concert tour of Japan.

He will be performing an organ recital including works by Bach, Handel, Marcel Dupré and Jean Langlais.

The music starts at 7.30pm in Walsall Town Hall, Lichfield Street, where there will also be a video screen to see Carlo’s performance up close.

Carlo was born into a musical family in North Carolina (USA) in 1952, he attended the North Carolina School of the Arts and coached privately with renowned teachers Arthur Poister and Robert Elmore.

He studied with two of the world’s greatest organists: America’s legendary Virgil Fox and Great Britain’s Sir George Thalben-Ball.

Early in his career, he was invited by the President to play at the White House, and made history as the first classical organist to give a solo organ recital there.

He has played before crowned heads of Europe, including the late Princess Grace of Monaco, the Princess Royal of England, and several Command Performances for the Danish Royal Family. He has made private recordings for the Sultan of Oman.

Antonia Pompa, Walsall Council’s events and festivals officer, said: “The concert is really not to be missed – Carlo’s performances are legendary, diverse and extremely colourful.”

Tickets cost £8 and £6 concessions, for more details call the box office on 0845 1112900 or www.walsall.gov.uk/walsalllive
