Fortnight of fun at Walsall Libraries

Walsall Libraries is teaming up with its counterparts across the Black Country to take part in the 'BIG Book Fortnight' this month (May 2008).
Libraries in Walsall along with those in Dudley, Sandwell and Wolverhampton will be hosting two weeks of events and activities designed to show that reading is fun.
Denise Gold, Walsall Council Libraries’ reader development manager said: “The BIG Book Fortnight has proved to be an opportunity for the four authorities to work successfully together and provide a variety of events.
“We have worked hard to hopefully include something for everyone to enjoy. 2008 is the National Year of Reading and we’re expecting that our events will prove very popular as people join us to celebrate. All of Walsall’s events are free of charge too. Just ask at each individual library for further details.”
The fortnight of events will run from Saturday 10 May 2008 to Saturday 24 May 2008 and will include visits by authors Catrin Collier, Candi Miller, Ned Williams, Ron Ellis and Maureen Carter. There will also be a ”first” when authors Annie Murray and Anne Bennett offer a joint event at Bloxwich Library at 10.30am and Aldridge Library at 2.30pm on Wednesday 14 May 2008.
There will be an opportunity for visitors at Central Library to meet author Manda Scott on Wednesday 21 May 2008 at 6.30pm. Manda is the author of “The Crystal Skull” and its publication comes just as the new Indiana Jones film about that is released. Ron Ellis is at Darlaston Library at 2.30pm and later at Willenhall Library on 22 May 2008. Ned Williams will appear at Brownhills Library on Tuesday 20 May 2008 at 2.30pm.
