Facilities and features

Palfrey Park is a green oasis which provides much valued recreation space for the local community. The park has recently been transformed through a five year restoration and regeneration programme and now boasts a wide range of new and improved facilities and features for the benefit of its many user groups.  

• Under 12s play area incorporating picnic and seating area
• Bowling green
• 2 grass volleyball courts
• Nature conservation area incorporating a pond, dipping platform, woodland, wildflower meadow and circular path
• 2 grass seven a side football pitches
• 2 way marked healthy walking trails * (see PDF map below)
• 2 multi use games area incorporating a full size basketball court, seven a side pitch, youth shelter and open plan games area
• Community building utilised for school projects, park meetings and base for several local groups’ activities in the park.
• Public toilets
• Park Lodge
• Historic tree lined avenues and designed landscapes
• Central community area incorporating the ‘Palfrey Horse Sculpture’, seating and ornamental planting* (see PDF map below)
• Bandstand with electrical supply and lighting * (see PDF below)

The park is a popular venue for a range of community events and activities organised by Walsall Council Greenspace Services in partnership with the Palfrey Park Friends and Users Association and our community partners.

If you are organising an event which you would like to hold one in Palfrey Park you must complete an online application form to hold an event in a park or open space. Please ensure you give sufficient notice otherwise it may not be possible to grant permission.
