Cradle Clubs

Cradle Clubs are available at a selection of libraries within Walsall. They offer you a friendly place to share books, reading and play with your baby.The library is a great place to meet other parents, carers and babies. Cradle Clubs are special because babies are welcome from birth until they are two years old. We aim to intorduce the benefits of reading to very young children and provide a place that parents can meet and chat to other parents with children of the same age whilst babies start developing their social skills. Sessions include story time and rhyme time with toys provided to help stimulate babies through play. Sessions run weekly in term time.

You are welcome to stay for the whole 90 minute session or drop in if that is more convenient. A contribution is asked of 50p per session per family. Refreshments are provided.

Bookstart Babies - Bounce and Rhyme

Books are very important to babies, they can help give the very best start in life. Even the tiniest of babies will enjoy looking at the brightly coloured pictures on board books, they will soon learn to hold books the right way round and even turn the pages themselves.

Walsall Libraries want to encourage this and help improve the lives of our children through books and play whilst also giving them social skills through mixing with babies of their own. Sessions include play, stories and rhymes.

These are monthly sessions aimed at introducing parents/carers to Walsall’s Bookstart scheme and how libraries support this.  Sessions contain an introduction to the library including what we can provide for parents, babies and young children along with story time and rhyme time

Bookstart Babies dates

Parents and Toddler Groups/Under Five's Groups

Parent and Toddler groups give carers and children under five a chance to meet and share stories, songs and rhymes. These sessions run every week in term time.

We recognise that toddlers have different needs to babies; they need more space and don’t want to be hampered by babies lying in their way. Parents of toddlers are welcome to bring their new babies along to these sessions but should understand that their needs won’t be catered for as specifically as at Cradle Clubs.
