RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification

Monday to Friday (3 week course)

23 - 10 August 2007

To be held at Walsall Gala Baths, Tower Street, Walsall, WS1 1DH

The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification is accepted by most swimming pools. It has QCA accreditation and has widespread international recognition too.

This course is open to candidates aged over 16+ and you will be trained and assessed for the qualifcation in two units:

Unit 1:    The principles of Lifesaving and Swimming Pool supervision

Unit 2:    The application of supervision and rescue in a swimming pool

Assessment for unit 1 takes place at the conclusion of the training course for a minimum of 31 hours for new candidates. It determines a candidate's knowledge and understanding of the principles of working as a pool lifeguard and his or her ability in a range of lifesaving skills as they relate to rescue in a range of common emergency situations that could occur in any pool.

Unit 2 is continuously assessed over the course and a minimum of a further 7 hours training. It determines the candidate's ability to apply the unit 1 skills and knowledge in a work related enviroment as they would apply in a swimming pool.

The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification is awarded upon successful completion of both units.

The cost of the RLSS NPLQ running at Walsall Gala Baths is £180.00 per candidate (Casual Staff £100.00). This charge includes all relevant training materials and a deposit of £50.00 is required when booking your place on the course and further payment is required 2 weeks before the course commences.
