Planning customers help to continue improvement

Walsall Council planners are calling on their customers to help them improve services by taking part in a key survey – giving them the chance of winning a great prize.

Around 600 Walsall planning customers are receiving questionnaires as part of a three-yearly national consultation, the results of which will help continue improving the council’s planning services.

And everyone completing and returning a survey will be entered into a fre prize draw with the chance to scoop a first prize of a £100 garden centre voucher. There are also two further prizes of £50 garden centre vouchers.

Councillor Marco Longhi, Cabinet member for Transformation and performance management, said: “Please complete and return these planning survey forms should they drop through your letterbox.

“Walsall Council is committed to listening to what people want and improving services for every resident. We need the help of our customers – whether applicants or agents – to build on the success of our planning service.

“What they say will help us shape the way planning services are provided in the future and feedback of this kind is vital.”

Walsall is already among the country’s top three local authorities receiving planning applications online – thanks to its easy-to use and highly-praised web facilities.

The government recently praised Walsall planners for making ‘excellent progress’ and exceeding the national standards set for planning authorities.

The survey is being sent to around 600 customers of the planning service, applicants or their agents who have received a decision on their application in the last six months.

It asks customers for their views of the service received when applying for planning permission, as well as their impressions of customer care and service delivery.

The questionnaire also researches overall satisfaction with the service, and the extent to which customers feel that the service is delivered to a good standard.
