Illuminations: Hatrick of children’s stars
Date Published : 14 October 2008
An eight foot high robot is just part of a trio of special attractions lining up to make Walsall Illuminations even more dazzling.
More than 250 lights features await visitors to the glittering lights show in the Arboretum.
But the family friendly event has now lined up three top name guests to give visitors even more value for money.
Lovable purple dinosaur Barney will star in the marquee for a special show with a sing-a-long featuring hits from his TV show on October 16 and 17.
Visitors can see SpongeBob SquarePants himself when he makes a personal apperance on October 18.
Meanwhile, eight foot high Titan will amaze the crowds on October 19 where the walking, talking cyberman comes to the lights. Gates open at 6.45pm for each of the special events.
Councillor Louise Harrison, Walsall Council cabinet member for leisure and culture, said: “The Illuminations this year has been a fantastic spectacle and we’re really pleased with it.
“What is great is that the line-up of attractions keeps changing and we have four days of fun ahead of us.
“The Illuminations is a real family-friendly value for money night which the whole family can enjoy. Aside from 250 lights features we have the entertainment marquee which is going really well.”
Visitors are being urged to use the park and ride scheme in The Broadway with AA signs from key routes into Walsall.
Refreshments along with an array of children’s rides are on offer at the annual event.
The Illuminations lasts until November 2 and for information and ticket sales go to www.walsall-lights.com or call 0845 111 2909.
