Hackney Carriage Fares

Notice is hereby given, as required under Section 65 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976, of proposed taxi fares within the district.
Hackney Carriages
Provisions fixing the rates or fares to be paid for Hackney Carriages within the District and securing the due publication of such fares.
It is proposed to increase the fares for hackney carriages as shown in the table below. The table shows the present fare and the proposed fare. The proprietor or driver of a Hackney Carriage shall be entitled to demand and take for the hire of the carriage the proposed rate or fare prescribed by the following table, the rate or fare being calculated by distance and time unless the hirer expresses at the commencement of the hiring his desire to engage by time only.
Provided always that where a Hackney Carriage furnished with a taxi meter shall be hired by distance and time the proprietor or driver thereof shall not be entitled to demand and take a fare greater than that recorded on the face of the taxi meter.

A copy of this Notice may be inspected during normal office hours at the First Stop Shop, Walsall Council, Civic Centre, Darwall Street, Walsall. WS1 1TP until 12.00 noon , 01 July 2008.
Any objections to this proposal should be made in writing to the Principle Licensing Officer at the address below by 12.00 noon, 01 July 2008.
If no objections are recieved or objections are made and subsequently withdrawn, the proposed fares will be effective from 12.00 noon. 01 July 2008 or the date of withdrawel of the objection or, if more than one, of the last objection whichever date is the later.
Any objector wishing to withdraw an objection must do so in writing by delivering during normal office hours a notice in writing to the Principal Licensing Officer at the address set out below.
Any withdrawal of an objection received outside normal office hours will be deemed to have been delivered on the next working day. Any date and/or time stamp placed by the Council on the document shall be conclusive as to the date and time of delivery of that document.
If objections are received which are not withdrawn, then those objections will be considered at a meeting of the Licensing and Safety Comittee scheduled for 30 July 2008 at 6.00pm, and the table of fares shall come into force with or without modifications as decided by the Committee after consideration of the objections not later than two months after the first specified date, namely 31 August 2008.
