Authors to visit Walsall Central Library
Date Published : 03 July 2008
Traditional tales passed down through the generations in Nigeria and the story of lovers threatened by conflict will captivate visitors to Walsall’s Central Library.
The Lichfield Street venue is playing host to authors Thelma Perkins and Bolaji Akinwale as part of the National Year of Reading initiative.
They will visit the library on Thursday July 10 from 4.45pm – 6pm to talk about their books
Thelma was born in Birmingham during the Second World War and her book Roundabouts is a tale of late and unexpected love threatened by racial fears and ageism.
The book Bolaji will discuss is Grandma’s Moon Tales which is a compilation of short traditional stories from south western Nigeria.
The author made a promise to his grandmother and mother that he would pass on some of the rich heritage of Nigeria to children and young people through the medium of storytelling.
The event will feature readings and book signings and is free of charge.
