Community support

Day units

There are two day units in Walsall – Mossley Day Unit and Kings Hill Day Unit. They provide therapeutic treatment for people, usually in a group work setting. There are a number of different groups to help people to develop and practise skills for managing anxiety, anger and depression.

To attend a day hospital, your doctor or mental health worker would refer you. You do not have to be (or ever have been), an in-patient to be referred to a day hospital.

Day and resource centres

Walsall has several centres, which offer different types of services. All offer support to people with long term mental health problems. Some centres are open in the evenings and at weekends to offer extra support for people who feel more isolated.

Broadway North Resource Centre offers a regular programme of activities, specialising in Complementary Therapies as well as learning and training opportunities in association with Walsall colleges and Links to Work.

Archways Centre Rethink offers a seven day drop in service to Service Users who experience mental health problems.

Schoolhouse Project Rethink offers an six day drop in service to Service Users who experience mental health problems.

Glebe Centre offers a drop-in service aimed at unemployed, homeless, socially marginalized and vulnerable people.

Black Women's Centre (Mental Health) offers a weekly drop in support group aimed at African and African-Caribbean people experiencing or recovering from mental health problems.
