Shopmobility terms and conditions
You must use the mobility equipment issued to you in a safe and proper manner. These terms and conditions of loan make sure your visit is a safe and pleasurable one. Please remember that Walsall Town Centre can be very busy and consideration must be given to other shoppers.
- To avoid disappointment, you are advised to pre-book your equipment. Bookings can only be taken for one week in advance.
- Customers are asked to notify of cancellation
- Contact Shopmobility by telephone if you are going to be late.
- Each piece of mobility equipment has a maximum weight capacity. Customers are required to monitor their weight and to notify a staff member if their weight exceeds 25 stones.
- Mobility equipment hired from Shopmobility must be used within the town Centre ring Road: A4148, as shown on your Shopmobililty Map. When Crossing roads you must used the dropped kerbs.
- Shopmobility equipment must not be used to carry, babies, children or animals.
- Only the registered person is insured to use the Shopmobility equipment. Family and friends are not to return the equipment on their behalf. In the event of an accident or emergency, please contact Shopmobility of where the equipment is and who the key has been left with.
- If you leave the equipment unattended at any time, always ensure you remove the key and keep it with you. Ensure the equipment is not causing an obstruction to others.
- Customers must report all accidents/ incidents or near misses to Shopmobility staff on their return to the unit.
- For your own safety and that of other members of the public, ensure you keep your speed down particularly when travelling through busy and congested areas and shops. Remember that pedestrians often stop and change direction without warning; you will need to keep a safe distance from them in order to release the break in good time to avoid a collision.
- Always give a wide berth when turning corners.
- Shopping bags and carrier bags must not be carried over the handle bars of any mobility equipment, as this can interfere with the vehicle controls and is therefore very dangerous.
- Customers must return the equipment in the same condition as when issued. Repairs to vehicles damaged through misuse will be invoiced to the customer.
- Customers who use the equipment daily are asked for their cooperation if restrictions have to be implemented in order to offer a fair service to other Shopmobility users.
- Shopping is left on the premises at the customers at own risk.
- The staff reserves the right to refuse equipment to customers they feel may be under the influence of alcohol, non-prescribed drugs or solvent abuse. It is an offence to drive powered equipment when intoxicated.
- Equipment must be returned on time to ensure that the next customer is not inconvenienced. Equipment is to be returned by 4.00pm in order to be cleaned and charged in preparation for the following day.
A penalty will be enforced if equipment is not returned on time.
