Brownhills Footbridge
Recent work

Brownhills footbridge has now been completed. The project provides a fully accessible footbridge across the Wryley and Essington Canal whilst also extending the footpath network to link the bridge to the exiting footpath network. This is a valuable asset to the canalside regeneration and the local communities. The project was a partnership between many agencies and the local community.
Impact for local people
The replacement of the footbridge across the Wryley and Essington Canal has provided a fully accessible facility as a focal point to the canal-based regeneration.
Investment value
The total cost of the footbridge was £448,944 a grant of £370,101 was secured from European Regeneration Development Fund (ERDF) to support this project with the remaining costs being met from council capital funds.
