Nominations

The “Mayor’s Civic Awards” celebrate the dedication and commitment of residents, groups and organisations from across the borough who tirelessly help others or work hard to improve their communities.

All of the finalists who have been nominated to the 6th Annual Mayor’s Civic Awards will be invited to the awards evening on Friday 20 March 2009 at Bank’s Stadium, Walsall.

Nominations are sought in the following categories

The Safer Community Award

Celebrating a community group or member who has helped tackle crime or anti social behaviour and has supported vulnerable people.

The Good Citizen Award

Celebrating a person or group who has made a significant contribution to their neighbours or neighbourhood.

The Community Spirit Award

Celebrating an individual or group who has improved the quality of life in Walsall through the promotion of good relations between people of different ethnic groups or faiths.

The Overcoming All Odds Award

Celebrating an individual or group who has overcome a significant challenge.

The Youth Engagement Award

Celebrating an individual or organisation who has  undertaken an initiative to engage with young people through youth clubs or after school clubs.

The Young Citizen Award

Celebrating a young person, aged between 13 and 25, who has made an important contribution to their neighbourhood or community.

The Voluntary Achievement of the Year Award

Celebrating voluntary groups or individuals based in the borough who have significantly improved the quality of life of people through fund raising or support.

The Environmental Awareness Award

Celebrating an individual, group or organisation which is keeping Walsall clean and green, through reducing, re-using and recycling.
