Walsall and District Netball League

Netball has been played in league form in Walsall for over 45 years. Originally starting as a Youth League, the Walsall and District Netball League has developed the partnership with a local Wednesbury school over the past 15 years to provide netball for all abilities and ages.

The Walsall & District Netball League has brought Walsall onto the netball map and teams from all over the West Midlands, come to take part. The wide range of women and young ladies that take part in the sport rates it as the No.1 sport for women. It is a fast and skilful game that has kept many women fit.

The League operates just on the Walsall/Wednesbury border at Manor High (Foundation) School, Friar Park Road , Wednesbury, offering competition on a Saturday and a Monday for a wide range of netballers. Handicap Knockout matches are held on some Tuesdays to give teams in lower divisions a chance of competition. Saturday section has four divisions of eight plus a Junior (U14) Section and the Midweek has six divisions of seven teams.

Changing competitive structure of Netball in England

Changes to the competition structure in the 2006-2007 season are now being consolidated. Gone will be the English Counties League in its current form and National Clubs League as England Netball introduce two ten team Premiership Divisions.

Opportunities will be given to local clubs within the West Mids region to compete in the Regional League where it is hoped that there will be two divisions.
