Walsall Museum Education Service

A visit to Walsall Museum is a great way to bring learning to life and to inspire creativity.  Walsall Museum’s education service currently offers facilitated workshops based on the Victorians, the Second World War and Sister Dora.  Sessions on other subjects can be offered by prior arrangement.  All of these are delivered within the Museum and are suitable for KS2.

We have a permanent exhibition on local history, 'The Changing Face of Walsall', and a regular programme of temporary exhibitions, all of which are suitable for self-led visits by schools.  Visit www.whatsonwalsall.co.uk for details of our current and forthcoming exhibitions.

Useful Information

  • Walsall Museum’s education service is free of charge to all schools within the borough.  There is a small charge for schools from outside the borough.
  • Toilet facilities for use by schools are available on the ground and first floors of the building.
  • We have a room that can be made available for eating lunch.
  • Coats and bags can be left in our education room when visiting the Museum.  Please let us know when booking.
  • All visits to the Museum, whether facilitated by Museum staff or self-led, must be pre-booked by calling 01922 653116.
  • All Museum staff are CRB checked.
  • All groups coming to the Museum must have the appropriate ratio of adults to children.  At KS1 this is one adult per eight children, at KS2 this is one adult per ten children.

Museum on the Move

The Museum on the Move is a mobile museum which can come out to your school.  The bus is approximately the same size as a mobile library van, has disabled access and can hold a maximum of 10 people. It is staffed by two museum educators at all times.  A charge is applicable for use of Museum on the Move.  Visit http://www.walsall.gov.uk/museum_on_the_move for further details on Museum on the Move.

To make the most of your visit to us, why not combine a workshop at Walsall Museum with a visit to the New Art Gallery or Walsall Leather Museum, both of which are an easy walk from Walsall Museum.

Please contact us using the details below to discuss your needs.
