Important notice
In the near future, Walsall Local History Centre will be undertaking essential maintenance work to replace our old and out of date archive air conditioning system. It is vitally important for us to maintain a constant and controlled temperature and humidity to keep the archives in the best condition possible. We are required also to do the work because of new EU legislation which has outlawed the refrigerant used in the units. We are hoping also to do some essential painting work.
This work will commence week beginning 7 December 2009. Work will be in non- public areas for the first two days of that week. However the Repository Strong Room where Archives and other material is stored will be closed from 9 December to 11 December 2009 to allow for cleaning of the ductwork. We regret that we will not be able to produce any Archives or other items from the Repository during this time.
It will also be necessary for the Local History Centre to close temporarily from 11 January to 14 January 2010 to allow one of the main units to be installed in reception. Further work may need to take place in February 2010, and we will keep you informed of the dates nearer the time.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Ruth F. Vyse, Manager, Walsall Local History Centre.
