Urban mobile library

Who are we?

Walsall's Mobile Library Service has been serving the Borough since 1982. From its base in Bloxwich, the Urban Mobile Library visits several sites across the borough on a weekly timetable.

The Urban mobile library has a lift for easier access for wheelchair users or anyone who has difficulty in using steps.

How do I join?

If you already have are a member of  Walsall libraries  you can use your card with our mobile library.

If you are not a member please ask for a form from us or pick one up from any library in walsall.  

Where do we visit?

Area visited are those designated to be half a mile from a static branch library. We also particularly target areas with a tradition of low usage of library services.

What can I borrow?

The Urban Mobile Library vehicle houses a considerable amount of stock which is updated daily.  Stock includes:

  • A range of adult fiction in regular and large print
  • Asian language books (Gujarati,Urdu,Bengali,Panjabi)
  • Popular non-fiction titles including biographies, history, travel, health, crafts, hobbies, and home & garden
  • Books to help with projects, assignments and homework
  • Picture books
  • Beginning readers’ books
  • A special Teenage Collection
  • Talking books for children and adults
  • Special collections of materials including a Parents’ Collection and the BBC Big Read titles
  • Videos on request

We also have local and council information and a selection of leaflets on places to visit, events and activities in the area.

If you are looking for a particular item you can use our free request service.  This gives customers access to the resources within Walsall Libraries and beyond.

What else is provided?

We have public access PC’s for use by children and adults, providing access to office applications.  In addition we have internet provision allowing access to the library catalogue, email and the World Wide Web.
