Supporting People Governance
The Supporting People Service is governed by two partnership groups, the Core Strategy Group and the Commissioning Body. The Core Strategy Group is responsible for ensuring the progress of the programme and driving improvement. The Commissioning Body has strategic oversight of the programme and has overall responsibility of the Supporting People Grant in Walsall.
Core Strategy Group
The Core Strategy Group (CSG) is made up of representatives of all key partners and stakeholders in the programme. It is attended by operational managers, support providers, commissioning managers, adult and child protection officers and service users.

The main purpose of the Core Strategy Group is to oversee the operational activities of the Supporting People Service. The Core Strategy Group reviews performance reports, financial reports, monitors the effectiveness of partnerships and identifies opportunities for the programme's development. The Core Strategy Group leads on the development of the 5 year Supporting People Strategy and its members bring information and expertise about their particular service areas and user groups to help monitor and address gaps in services and unmet needs.
The Core Strategy group has a set Terms of Reference which details the relationship of the group within the governance structure of the programme, the role of the members and the powers of the group.

Commissioning Body
The Commissioning Body (CB) is the governing partnership that oversees the provision of housing related support services in Walsall.
The Commissioning Body is made up of representatives of the key partners in the programme, Walsall Council, Walsall teaching Primary Care trust and the West Midlands probation Service. It is also attended by Walsall Council's Cabinet Holder for Social Care, Health and Housing, the Supporting People Accountable Officer and the Supporting People Manager.
The main purpose of the Commissioning Body is to have strategic oversight of the local Supporting People programme. The Commissioning Body oversees the processes for service reviews, commissioning and decommissioning of services, forward strategic planning of the programme and the administration of the programme by the Administering Authority, Walsall Council. The key partners take strategic and commissioning level decisions based on the interest of the local programme and their organisations and in accordance with the priorities and objectives in the local Sustainable Communities Strategy.
