What can you recycle at the rubbish tips (HWRC sites)

The following list of items can be recycled at the rubbish tips:

  • Wood and chipboard (including furniture and kitchen units)
  • Garden waste
  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Food and drinks cans
  • Plastic bottles
  • Cardboard
  • Ceramics (Tiles basins toilets and crockery)
  • Textile (clothes and shoes)
  • Newspapers, magazines, catalogues, junk mail
  • Metal
  • Batteries (Household and car)
  • Used engine oil
  • Household chemicals and pesticides
  • Fluorescent tubes
  • Fridges, freezers and electrical goods
  • Televisions and computer monitors
  • Rubble and soil (maximum 8 bags per month)
  • Spectacles
  • Mobile phones
  • Yellow pages
  • CDs and DVDs
  • Plasterboard
  • Plastic patio furniture - Merchants Way only

Please ask the attendant about other materials that you can recycle at the tip.

Cemented asbestos can be disposed of at the Fryers Road site, but it is necessary to obtain an asbestos permit first from the Civic Centre, Darwall Street, Walsall WS1 1DB. Visit our asbestos page for more information.
