Statement of community involvement

The new Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets down some rules for the Council and others to follow when considering new development, including planning applications.  The rules govern how everyone can have their say about new developments.  These rules say how the Council will tell people about new development proposals, where information will be available and when, and they say how people, community groups and others will be able to get involved in making or influencing the final decision.

Its ‘soundness’ was examined by an independent Inspector during March 2006. It was judged to have passed the tests of soundness subject to minor recommended changes. For information please find attached a copy of the SCI Inspector’s Report (PDF 34KB).

The Statement of Community Involvement was considered by the council’s cabinet at their meeting on the 14th June 2006, where they decided to accept the Inspector’s recommendations and formally adopt the document.
