Redress

If you are dissatisfied with the council's decision on your application to fell or prune a protected tree you can appeal to central government within 28 days of recieving a decision notice. Enquiries should be forwarded to the following address:

If you are not satisfied with our service please let us know. This will give us the chance to put things right and help improve the service. The tree officer will try and resolve any problems.

If you remain dissatisfied you can seek an independent investigation by the Local Government Ombudsman.

On the other hand, if you are pleased with the service we have provided or have a suggestion for improvement, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Compensation

Any person who has suffered loss or damage caused or incurred as a result of:

  1. A refusal of any consent under the Tree Preservation Order; or
  2. A grant of consent subject to conditions.

May be entitled to compensation from the council.

Any claim for compensation under the Order shall be made in writing to the council within 12 months from the date of decision, (or if an appeal is made, within 12 months of the Secretary of State’s decision).

Any question of disputed compensation is referred to, and determined by the Lands Tribunal.
