Willenhall Heritage Economic Regeneration Scheme

Willenhall town centre

The success of the Walsall CAP led the Conservation Section of the Council to submitting further bids for similar schemes, resulting in the Willenhall Heritage Economic Regeneration Scheme (HERS). This was a partnership scheme between English Heritage, Walsall Council and the Willenhall Local Committee/ SRB.

The Willenhall HERS ran between April 2000 and March 2003. The aims of the scheme were to compliment the regeneration of Willenhall town-centre, and to assist in the repair and conservation of the historic fabric of the Willenhall Conservation Area. This included the repair to historic buildings, the reinstatement of traditional style shop-fronts, and the investigation in to new uses for vacant buildings and upper floors within the Conservation Area. A total of c.£400,000 was available for grants over the three year period.

This scheme has now finished, and no grants from this source of funding are available for this area now.
