Promoting sustainability
Volunteer environmental champions from across Walsall Council started the process in 2006 by inviting colleagues to take action to help Walsall become a local authority which leads by example.
They organised a special ‘Love your Environment’ eco-fair to give colleagues the chance to find out how the council can help them to help protect our environment.
And staff pledged to follow a number of green resolutions in their everyday working life, such as using less paper, sharing cars to get to work and recycling more office waste.
A number of key events are being planned for 2008 to raise awareness of environmental issues.
