We have been consulting on this document and the e-consultation deadline was 30 October 2009. This consultation is now closed
This strategy provides a summary to the various documents and strategies that have been produced and shows how we will transform learning through the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme. It has been developed over a period of time in consultation with schools, governors, government departments and a wide range of members of the local community.
This document will be presented to Walsall's cabinet and at the Building Schools for The Future remit meeting later this term and then finalised as a result of any comments made at that meeting. Comments received during the consultation period will be considered in the development of the strategy where appropriate. A final version will be taken to Walsall's cabinet in December 2009.
In February Partnership for Schools agreed the pupil places planning submission for the year 2018/19. The draft strategy, therefore, contains information taken from that submission. Each year these numbers are updated to reflect local and national changes and requirements. Current and updated guidance was provided to the Council by Partnership for Schools on September 11 2009.
The updated BSF regulations require the authority to plan for no more than 5% surplus places overall by 2019/20 and no school should have more than a total of 10% surplus places. As a result this section will be updated over the coming weeks and we will ensure that as soon as it is completed that it is made available. The final figures will be provided in the published strategy which we aim to take to Cabinet in December 2009.
