Walsall Council’s statement of accounts were approved by the Council’s Audit Committee on 29th September 2009. Grant Thornton, the Council’s external auditors work on this is substantially complete and they anticipate giving an unqualified opinion. The Council’s standard of working papers were seen to be of a continued high standard.

The statement of accounts 2008/09 shows in financial terms the performance of the council for the year ended 31 March 2009. It is a statutory publication produced in accordance with legislative requirements and The Code of Practice on Local Authority Accounting in the United Kingdom 2006, a Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP).
