Local Compact
Walsall Council has signed up to a Local Compact. The Local Compact is an agreement, developed jointly by representatives of the community and voluntary sector, and of statutory public services including the council and Walsall teaching Primary Care Trust, within the overall framework of the Walsall Borough Strategic Partnership.

The Compact sets out key principles, ‘ground rules’ and clear standards for how the various agencies will work together, constructively, positively and for the benefit of the people of Walsall. The Compact includes a series of local policy statements. These provide straight forward guidance for all local partners in the following areas
- Funding
- Consultation
- Volunteering
- Black & Minority Ethnic Community Groups
- Information and Communication
- Disability Organisations
- Learning & Development
The Compact demonstrates the council’s commitment to working with the community and voluntary sector, and is recognition of the valuable part played by community and voluntary groups in the borough. The establishment of a Local Compact was one of the key priorities identified at the Realising our Vision event in January 2005, organised jointly with the Borough Strategic Partnership, Walsall Voluntary Action and Walsall Community Empowerment Network.
