Translation and interpretation
The council is on its way to providing information and communication to services for local people in ways that make most sense to them. We should be able to provide council-wide translation, interpretation and human-aids to communication, meeting the needs of ethnic communities, Deaf and disabled people.
The Translation and Interpretation report has recommended that we set up a system where council has contracts with several different companies so that we can get the best possible service using the strengths of each of them.
We are in process of awarding the contract and the service will be up and running from Spring 2009.
