Interpreting, translation and transcription (ITT)
Good communication makes sure our messages are understood and it is impossible for them to be misunderstood. Some customers using our services may need information in languages and formats other than written or spoken English.
- Interpreting
Is from one spoken language to another for example: English to Panjabi or English to British Sign Language - Translation
Is from one written language to another for example: Polish to English or or English to Bengali - Transcription
Is from one written or spoken language to another format for example: written English to Braille or spoken English to Deafblind manual.
We will make every effort to provide all customers with information in their preferred language or format:
- promptly
- effectively
- consistently
- at no cost to you
- at reasonable cost to council
We use a company called SWIIS Ltd to provide most ITT services for us.
All interpreting staff
- will wear an identification badge during work.
- will hold a relevant qualification and be a member of at least one of the relevant professional bodies.
If we do not provide a good service and you would like to complain please tell us. If we provide a good service please tell us as well.
