Single Equality Scheme

This gives our priorities and areas for improvement in 3 of the equality characteristics.
There are still separate equality schemes for some equality characteristics.

Age Equality Scheme 2007 to 2010 (PDF 473KB)

In the Age Equality Scheme we intend to encompass all the existing and anticipated duties
to focus not only on employment, but equally on service provision, community engagement
and community cohesion.

Equal Opportunities Policy (PDF 143KB)

The policy aims to ensure that no employee, elected member, representative of partner organisations, service user or people who come into contact with the Council in other
ways is treated less favourably on grounds of sex, race, colour, national or ethnic origin, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, age, trade union activity, expired offences (where legally applicable), political or religious belief.

Gypsy and Traveller community strategy (PDF 613Kb).

The Gypsy and Traveller community strategy aims to identify, understand and raise
awareness of both the needs and culture of Gypsies and Travellers.
It outlines the work the council needs to do in partnership with other service providers to
ensure an effective and consistent approach to the Gypsy and Traveller community issues
and provides a strategic framework for delivering, promoting access to and developing
services appropriate to their needs.
