Panel remit
All aspects and general services related to regeneration for example; economic, environmental and physical regeneration, planning, partnership working within the functions set out in section 21 of the Local Government Act 2000.
Work programme for 2008/09
The work programme is indicative and subject to change but issues that are scheduled to be looked at this year include:
- Working Neighbourhoods Fund within the Area Based Grant
- Black Country Joint Core Strategy
- New Deal for Communities (Exit Strategy and Sustainability)
- Urban Regeneration Company
- Budget Monitoring and Setting
- Local Area Agreement Monitoring
Working groups
Markets Working Group
The Working Group will be identifying and assessing potential future funding and management options for a relocated Walsall Market after already investigating the proposed design options for the relocated market.
Once the Working Group has considered the management options it will make recommendations to the Regeneration Scrutiny and Performance Panel and then to Cabinet who will consider them for implementation.
Affordable Housing Working Group
This is a Joint Working Group with the Health, Social Care and Inclusion Scrutiny and Performance Panel.
The Working Group is considering affordable housing in Walsall and whether existing provision in the borough is sufficient.
Once the Working Group has completed its investigations it will report to the Health, Social Care and Inclusion Scrutiny and Performance Panel and then to Cabinet who will consider the Working Groups recommendations for implementation.
