Data protection

In order to carry out its' lawful business, the council needs to process information about you. When we collect that information from you, we will tell you:

Who we are (not always obvious when we are collecting information in conjunction with our partners)
What we will use the information for
Who we will disclose the information to
How long we will keep the information for

We will not use the information for any other purpose(s) without informing you first, unless we are legally allowed to do this.

Under the Data Protection Act 1998, we have to notify the Information Commissioner of the personal information we process. If you want to see a copy of the council’s notification, you can go to the Information Commissioner's website. We maintain three notifications as follows:

Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council main notification - registration number Z5761790.
Electoral Registration for Walsall notification – registration number Z5868322.
Walsall Registrar (Births, Deaths and Marriages) notification – registration number Z6017495.
