Validate UK proof of age scheme
Walsall Trading Standards Service, in conjunction with local secondary schools, traders and the poolice launched the Validate UK Proof of Age Scheme in March 2001.
The scheme is for anyone aged 12 years and over. Validate UK aims to ensure that age restricted products are only sold to those legally entitled to buy them. It also helps those who look younger or older than they actually are, to prove their age. Traders and licensees can view information about selling age-restricted products in our business section.
There are 3 cards available: a blue one for 12-15 year olds; a yellow one for 16-18 year olds; and a grey card for those 18 years or over.
How can I obtain a Validate UK card?
There are 2 ways to obtain a Validate UK card
- Through your secondary school - officers from Walsall trading standards visit secondary schools every year to photograph Year 11 pupils for their Validate UK cards. The cards are free when applied for through school.
- Download an application form for a Validate UK proof of age card (PDF 108 KB) and post it to the address listed on the form.
