Trading Standards Poll
Help decide what Walsall Trading Standards should investigate
You may not know it but Walsall Trading Standards public protection work involves a lot more than checking weights and measures! They now want your input on which Food Standards issue they should investigate.
Over the past year Walsall Trading Standards have looked into and found problems with a wide range of food products including excessive water in prawns and meat; excessive salt in imported food; high acidity levels in children’s sweets; low meat levels in meat products; and minced meat labelled as lamb but containing pork and beef.
What do you think they should investigate next? Vote now!
- Children’s drinks and sweets – Do they contain hyperactivity colours?
- Economy Sausages – Is excess water being added?
- Takeaway food – How big are the portion sizes and how much salt and fat are you eating?
- Fruit and vegetable “5 a day” claims – Are you getting what they say?
- English Honey – Is it mixed with foreign honeys and sugar syrups?
- Basmati rice – Is it mixed with other rice varieties?
Voting is open until 17 July 2009 and the result of the vote will be published on the council website. Findings from the winning investigation will be available in Autumn 2009.
