Cold weather payments

payments are made automatically so you won't need to make a claim or contact anyone.

However, if you do have a query (for example if you think you should have received a payment but haven't) you should contact the Pension Service or Job Centre plus (contact details on link below).

Walsall Council are not responsible for these payments and can only offer general advice.

some useful information about cold weather payments

  • Cold weather payments provide £25 towards eligible customers’ heating costs during each seven-day period of very cold weather.
  • You do not need to claim, if you are eligible you will be paid automatically.
  • Any cold weather payment is over and above the Winter Fuel Payments made to people over 60.
  • For more details please visit http://www.direct.gov.uk/coldweatherpayment This website provides information on eligibility, and there is a postcode search facility where you can find out if Cold Weather Payments have been triggered in their area.
