Walsall Council is committed to creating competitive and vibrant centres for those people who live, work and visit the borough and it has pledged to support its key district centres in order to help communications with existing and new businesses.

As part of this approach, a District Centres Manager has been appointed to support the management and development of Aldridge, Bloxwich, Brownhills, Darlaston and Willenhall district centres.  The role predominately focuses on developing a town centre management style approach in each centre.

Partnerships in each of the five areas have now been formed that meet every 6–8 weeks.  The groups are made up of a cross section of representatives from Walsall Council, national retailers, local retailers, market traders, shopping centres, landlords, professional and financial services, the police, housing associations, community groups and local neighbourhood partnerships.

Willenhall town centreThe partnerships govern what issues they wish to discuss at meetings and what action they wish to focus on.  Particular initiatives are likely to include transport proposals, events, schemes to help reduce business crime, marketing and promotion, enhancing the street scene, environmental improvements and schemes to encourage inward investment.

Each group is consulting with businesses and stakeholders in order to capture their key issues and concerns through the completion of a business audit which you can download, complete and return

This data collection will form the basis of an action plan which the partnership will focus on delivering over the coming year.

If you would like to get involved in the business partnerships in your area please click on the link for the centre to find out where and when the group next meets. Alternatively download and complete our District Centre Audit form and return.
