Development advice

The role of the Development Team is to promote and co-ordinate development and planning proposals in the borough, working with partners to ensure that there is a 'seamless' service to developers.

The Development Team can assist you in looking for suitable sites for specific types of development. The team will work with partner agencies, to find a site to suit your needs and with other council service areas to make you aware of any development issues prior to the submission of your planning application.

Advice on any development proposals you may have is given by the Development Team and Planning Services, depending on the type and scale of development you propose.

Business development

The Development Team offers development advice on any proposals which involve council owned land and on any larger development proposals involving private land. The Development Team works closely with planning Services to ensure that the highest quality development is achieved and that a comprehensive service is offered to developers and businesses throughout the development process.

The Development Team can help you:

  • Identify land for development.
  • Provide advice on land assembly.
  • Provide comprehensive planning advice.
  • Co-ordinate regeneration projects.

The development Team offers advice on council owned land and the following types of development on privately owned land:

  • Redevelopment of derelict land.
  • Large retail, industrial or other commercial developments.
  • Large residential developments.
  • Mixed use schemes.
