Footy Fun at George Rose Park
Date Published : 13 February 2008
If your child fancies themselves as the next Ronaldo, Rooney or John Terry, why not bring them down to our football tournament in George Rose Park?
Walsall Council’s Parks Service has arranged a 5-aside football tournament for children in George Rose Park, Wolverhampton Street, Darlaston on Sunday 17 February.
The event is aimed at encouraging local young people to enjoy a family fun day out during the half term holiday.
If your child - boy or girl - enjoys playing football with their friends, simply bring them down to George Rose Park to register their team at 10.30am in time for the games which kick off at 11am. Teams are being asked to meet at the park’s main entrance off Wolverhampton Street.
Admission is free and the tournament will be split into categories for children aged under 16 and under 13. Medals will be handed out to the winners and runners-up in each category.
And if you and your child can’t attend the tournament, there is another one scheduled at the end of the month (February).
John Millard, Walsall Council parks development officer said: “We have another tournament taking place at Blackwood Park, Ceader Drive, Streetly on Sunday 24 February for anyone who cannot attend the event at George Rose Park.
“This is a great opportunity for children to meet together and enjoy one of the nation’s most popular sports.”
